General Info
During World War One Artillery shot missiles and or fired shots of bullets towards light or heavy amounts of enemies. Two large factors of Artillery was the explosion causing a large amount of disturbance, and the cloud of smoke that was formed disrupting their visibility
Artillery was made in Europe, July 28th, 1914 these included cannons, and mortars made of bronze, brass, or iron mounted on a two wheel carriages. A type of Artillery called the Shrapnel Missile was invented by Henery Shrapnel this type of missile included types of metal such as nails that would fly in all different directions after the explosion causing a lot of damage. Artillery was invented to do more harm in a lot less time in a larger space of land. A major impact that Artillery had in World War One is that it killed a large amount of people at a further distance than say man to man combat or a regular riffle. |
Impacts and Consequences
Artillery had a major impact in how much damage it could do in a certain amount of time in a very large amount of distance with very little wounded on their side making war just a slight bit easier.
Artillery was very effective but it mainly affected the soldiers on the front line, because it made it easier to kill or injure smaller or larger amounts of people all at once. It may have effected the leaders because they may lose a large amount of their soldiers and have a hard time winning the war, and or they might lose a lot of money due to disaster or lose of weapons during the war.It may have also disrupted the civilians by destroying their homes, having to take in unknown soldiers or even a loss of family members during the war.
Some positive consequences of using artillery would be taking out or injuring a large amount of soldiers on the opposing side very quickly and easily, and a negative consequence of using this weapon during war is how much money and weaponry you'll be losing if you don't successfully aim the missile at your target.
Connections to Today
A modern day example of artillery was known as big guns, such as cannons, howtizers or mortars. These were operated by crews or calibre larger that 15 mm. A way that Artillery was improved was in the 2nd half of the 19th century when the steel gun barrels became more powerful. These types of weapons are still used in the united states today by many different types of military forces.
A time this weapon has been used was by Germany and their allies which were France, Great Britian, The United States, Australia, and Russia, ect.. 1914-1918 all over Europe.
