Airplanes
Airplanes were pretty much pointless
General Info
In the beginning of World War 1, Aircraft's were very basic and crude. By the end of WW1, Aircraft's have evolved into Fighters, and Bombers. The creator of the airplane were the Orville Brothers in 1903. But, the first aircraft used in war was created in 1914. A British general who is unidentified said "The airplane is useless for the purpose of war". The main purpose of the airplane is for feeding back information for stuff like artillery strikes. If a German and an Allie came across each other in airplanes, the aerial flight could be very deadly. The aircraft could also drop a small, single bomb. The aircraft's of war have evolved to hold much bigger bombs to create a bigger threat to the opposing side. To the right shows a map of where Manfred von Richthofen died in his plane. There are many more locations other than this.

Impacts and Consequences of Aircrafts
An impact of the aircraft is that it could spy on the enemy side if there were no clouds or precipitation. Although the airplane didn't have many purposes, spying on the enemy side was a huge impact because you could see how they were set up and were each soldier was hiding, and figure out a plan to attack the enemies most effectively. A consequence of the aircraft is that it was very basic and wasn't really intimidating. The aircraft could only hold one small bomb and even though that's effective, its not close to what the aircraft's are like today.
Connections to Today
Some changes added on to the airplane since WW1 are that there were machine guns mounted on the wings, The planes were made of steel instead of wood, Landing gear under the wings, closed canopy and IR missiles were added as well. Nowadays the aircraft's can fight in air battles as well as ground duties. The aircraft has changed a lot and is way better than the ones used during World War 1.
